Creative Ways to Spruce Up Your Happy Mail

Sending and receiving happy mail is one of the greatest joys; don’t you agree? Walking to your mailbox, opening it up and finding a special envelope just for you? Just thinking about it makes me happy! Today, I'm sharing a fun list of ideas to spruce up your happy mail to make it even more fun, along with ideas of neat little goodies you can include as well!

Letters and cards are so amazing – you can be as simple or as creative as you’d like! The very basics you need are only a piece of paper, a pen/pencil and a stamp. That’s it! Easy right? But let’s take it a step further and explore some extra happy ways to get creative!
  1. Try out some pretty colored pens when writing your letter!
Even if you’re using regular school paper, a fun-colored ink can really brighten up your letter. You can find some really great colored pens at the Dollar Tree!
  2. Stickers!
Stickers come in literally every shape, size, color and design imaginable – not to mention they are SO fun! You can add them to your letter itself, and/or to the envelope and while you’re at it, why not share a few with your recipient too? Scripture ones are also a great idea for spreading Jesus' love! The Dollar Tree also has a great selection of stickers!
  3. Washi tape!
You’ve probably noticed if you’re active in the happy mail realm that washi tape is super popular! And for good reason – it’s amazing! You can layer it on your letter to make pretty designs, wrap a length of it on a piece of paper as a sample to send to your recipient, and my personal favorite – use it on your envelope! It truly makes happy mail stick out when a person pulls their mail out of the box! Dollar Tree has some alright quality washi, but my favorite place to find it is at thrift stores or on clearance. Companies even make washi with Scriptures and Christian things on them - another great idea to share God's love!
  4. Decorated paper and envelopes!
This is a super fun category! There are so many colors and designs of paper and envelopes, and cards, to choose from with happy mail! I personally love hunting in my local thrift store for these supplies and so far, I have found some super pretty and awesome supplies! Though plain paper and envelopes work just fine, a bright colored envelope and cute paper inside are sure to make your recipient extra happy and you can spread Jesus at the same time!
  5. Cool stamps!
The USPS has so many choices of stamps these days – it’s so neat! Anything from flowers to animals to coffee cups, you can get it on a stamp. You can order the special designs on their website if you don’t want to go in person, but if you do then just ask your postal employee next time you go if you can see their stamp design options!
  6. Address labels!
These definitely aren’t necessary, but they sure are fun! Address labels speed up the process when packaging your happy mail, eliminating having to write your return address over and over. You can make your own with special sheets stores sell of pre-cut labels you design on the computer, you can order specially designed ones, and there are organizations that send them for “free” too when you donate to them.

Next, let’s talk about all the super fun things you can include in your letters and happy mail! Below you’ll find a list of all sorts of unique goodies that fit in an envelope...

Stickers
Washi tape samples
Tea bags
Confetti
Handlettered or art pieces
Scripture and quote cards
Bookmarks
Cool Aid Packets
Sharable Prayers (these by Dayspring are amazing!)
Gum
Paper clips (there are super cool shaped ones now)
Extra stationary or cards
Photos
Coupons
Postcards
Seed packets
Sticky notes
Origami
Recipes
Balloons
Hot cocoa or instant coffee (would probably require extra stamps)
Pressed flowers
Decals
Ribbon or fabric strips
Woven friendship bracelets
Lists of favorite songs, movies, books, places to visit, hobbies, etc.
Small nail file
Tiny calendars

The possibilities are endless! So my challenge for you today is to write a letter to someone you know would love to hear from you, or a happy mail card, and incorporate some of these fun ideas to make it extra special! Spread Jesus’ light, love and joy through the postal system. Have fun creating!

Tell me down below; what are some of the ways you enjoy getting creative with your happy mail?

I'm so happy to be sharing with you all about our wonderful January and February Smile Projects today! Let's begin with our January Project featured above...

I know the photo is a little crowded, but just look at all the beautiful cards (blurred for addresses), packages/boxes and donations we received! Our January project was for a super special family going through a hard time who needed a little help from their Christian family and you all truly delivered. I believe this is the biggest Smile Project we have ever organized - praise the Lord! The family were so, so grateful and overjoyed and the children were as happy as can be. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for all of your kindness and generosity. God is so good! This is truly a beautiful picture of how we as Christians can come together to help people through the special opportunities He brings our way.

Next is our February Project! For privacy reasons the project coordinator did not want any photos featured of this project, but I can tell you it was a huge success and the family was truly blessed, encouraged and thankful and were reminded of how much God truly loves them. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for contributing and making it such a special blessing for them!

By the blessing of our Lord Jesus - you all make these projects possible! All of these projects are made by you! Each note, card, letter, package, gift - every single little thing sent to every project comes together and makes a beautiful gift to share Christ's love. How beautiful is that? May God bless each of your kind and caring hearts abundantly - thank you.

Great things God has done and will continue to do.
